The Bolivarian National Navy presented a video that shows how the Resolute ship attacks the Venezuelan patrol boat Naiguatá
Admiral Giuseppe Alessandrello Cimadevilla, commander general of the Bolivarian National Navy, shows videos, audios, radio communications and gives a complete explanation on April 4, 2020 of how the tourist ship Resolute charged the Venezuelan coast guard Naiguatá after he was ordered to detain engines and go to the port of Margarita for being in Venezuelan jurisdictional waters without permission.
It shows a video of how the Naiguatá was attacked by the Resolute and how it refused to provide support to the crew to rescue them once the ship was sunk, as well as the communications between the two vessels..
Admiral Giuseppe Alessandrello Cimadevilla, commander general of the Bolivarian National Navy, affirmed that the ship remained docked for almost two days almost 8 miles from Isla La Tortuga “without any authorization” to be in that aquatic territorial area of Venezuela.
Commander Guiseppe Cimavilla clarified that the Naiguatá coast guard “shot with a rifle” at the foreign ship with 32 passengers “ahead the bow.”
He said, according to what the Inac radar system reported, that the Resolute ship entered from the north of the island of Margarita westbound, on Friday 27-M at 4:16 pm and that two days later –on 29 -M– at 3:00 pm arrived at Tortuga Island
Cimadevilla presented the recording of the conversation they had, at midnight on Monday 30-M, the Resolute came from the port of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and had the final destination of the island of Curaçao with 32 people On board at once they recognized that they were without any authorization.
In a second audio, the captain of the Resolute ship informed the Naiguatá that he was withdrawing from the area to continue with his destination, but the Navy ship authority replied that he should make a stop at the Pampatar dock in Margarita for having been in unauthorized territorial waters.
Given this, the captain of the foreign ship asked “apologies because they did not know that they were in unauthorized waters and that he was withdrawing” until the persecution began.
However, the captain of the Naiguatá replied that “the innocent passage is without interruption and to stop must have authorization from the country”
“We apologize for any misfortune. We are in panic (…). We don’t want any problem (…) ”, was the response, however the Venezuelan crew warned that if they did not follow the instructions“ they would use their weapons ”.
On three occasions, the Naiguatá asked the machines to stop the Resolute, but they ignored it.
But, the response was “hitting” the coast guard on several occasions “generating a damage to the hull which caused the ship to capsize”.
Despite what happened, the foreign ship continued its course at 15 knots of speed without rescuing those who were on the rafts at 2:00 in the morning, but they drifted 32 miles west of the accident until they were saved by another navy ship.
