Video: Ethiopian Air Force planes strike separatist capital
MiG-23 of the Ethiopian Air Force Fighter-bombers are involved in operations against the militants of the Tigray People’s Liberation Front (NPLF). They strike at the positions of the separatists. In particular, the German TV channel Deutsche Welle published a video showing the flight of the MiG-23 over the capital of the rebellious region Tigray Mekele. The plane delivered strikes using unguided aircraft missiles.
MiG-23s have been supplied to Ethiopia from the USSR since 1978. Originally created as a fighter, the aircraft is also capable of striking ground targets with the help of Kh-23 guided missiles, UB-16-57, UB-32, B-8M unguided missiles or aerial bombs. At the moment, the Ethiopian Air Force is armed with about 10 MiG-23 fighter-bombers.
Recall it on November 3, rebels from the People’s Front for the Liberation of Tigray attacked government forces of Ethiopia in the north of the country. In response, the President of the Ethiopian state, Abiy Ahmed Ali, launched a military operation against the armed formations of the NPLT.
