Enrique Castells and Dich Souki, appointed by Guaidó – illegally – to administer the Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana (CVG) have a history of corruption. The Venezuelan Corporation of Guayana is a decentralized state-owned Venezuelan conglomerate, located in the Guayana Region in the southeast of the country. Its subsidiaries include the aluminium producers Alcasa, Venalum and gold mining Minerven.
According to data published after an investigation of La Tabla site, at least two of the directors of CVG International, “appointed” on Tuesday by the National Assembly at the request of the self-proclaimed Juan Guaidó, have been linked to acts of corruption in the past.
Castells was part of a group of managers whose performance was severely questioned in 1987 in the so-called Espinoza Report, because, among other things, they allowed disorder and corruption, as published by the newspaper El Universal in May 1988.
On that occasion they accompanied Castells, as first level managers, Oscar Martínez, Héctor Soucy, Celestino Martínez and Andrés Lopez Robles.
Castells was one of the main drivers aluminum sector privatization, despite failed attempts developed in 1998. It is possible to locate documents in favor of privatization dated 1999.
The AN argued the designation of these “executives”, as it did with PDVSA and Citgo, with the assumption of “managing to protect the country’s assets and removing the CVG from abandonment”.
For their part, CVG workers rejected this board of directors appointed by Guaidó and reiterated their support for the Bolivarian government in the fight against the evil of the Venezuelan right.
