The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and commander in chief of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) promised to provide Russia with assistance in the event of a conflict with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
Maduro’s words were given after a meeting with the deputy prime minister of the Russian government, Yuri Ivánovich Borísov.
Borisov, who oversees the government’s defense bloc, will visit Venezuela, Nicaragua and Cuba, where he will discuss trade and economic cooperation with the leaders of these countries.
The President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, ratified this Wednesday, February 16, 2022, the military cooperation that he maintains with Russia in defense of the sovereignty of both nations.
“We are going to increase all plans for preparation, training, cooperation with a military power in the world such as Russia,” stressed the Venezuelan head of state during a press conference, after the signing of several agreements in branches such as health, energy and economy.
“Russia has the full support of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in the fight it is giving to dispel all threats from NATO and the Western world,” he added.
From the Miraflores Palace, in Caracas, the National President pointed out that relations between the two nations remain at a good strategic level, so they are expected to deepen every day.
“Relations between Russia and Venezuela are acquiring a higher strategic level, greater quality and depth in their results,” said the Venezuelan president.
«We have reviewed the map of world geopolitics, the state of Russia-Venezuela bilateral cooperation and we have addressed in detail each of the aspects of trade, energy, financial cooperation in the field of health, culture, education, military,” he added.
One of the points to be evaluated is cooperation in health matters, especially in the acquisition of vaccines against covid-19 and antivirals, where Russia was the first country to offer its solidarity to Venezuela in the midst of the pandemic, despiteof the US blockade.
“Venezuela was the first country in the world to certify the vaccine. It has been wonderful. Cooperation in this stage of the pandemic in the field of health and science, we have talked very well. The new-generation vaccines that Russia is working to create, the new-generation vaccines with all its experience, and we will continue to cooperate on treatments and antivirals,” President Maduro said.
For his part, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov assured that Russia will continue to support Venezuela in protecting its State sovereignty and will continue to help in the fight against external interference through the consolidation of binational relations.

Strengthening of tourism
At the press conference, President Nicolás Maduro stressed the importance of continuing to strengthen the tourism sector, thanks to the support of Russia.
In the last two months, Maduro explained, more than 15,000 Russian tourists visited Venezuela as part of these alliances, different tourist sites such as Nueva Esparta and Caracas.
“We are now in a position to increase direct flights to Moscow,” the President said.
