Venezuela Foreign Minister Carlos Faría stated this Thursday that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, offered Venezuela’s support to the European Union (EU) to overcome the energy crisis, after the conflict between Russia and Ukraine, but for this it is necessary that release the country’s assets that are sequestered in European banks by the application of unilateral coercive measures.
“President Nicolás Maduro is willing to help the EU overcome its energy crisis, with fair trade, under equal conditions and benefits. We only demand the release of our assets in European banks and the cessation of the economic and financial blockade against Venezuela”, explained Faría, during his speech at the III Summit of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). ) and the European Union that takes place in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
In this sense, he highlighted the need “to promote respectful and peaceful relations, for which he reiterated the demand for the lifting of the economic blockade and the unilateral coercive measures that have been imposed not only against Venezuela, but also against Latin American and Caribbean countries such as Cuba and Nicaragua.
