The US desire to encircle, contain, and confront China goes far beyond political rhetoric. Washington has begun reconfiguring its armed forces specifically to fight China thousands of miles from American shores in and around the Indo-Pacific region.
Changes have been so extreme that the US Marine Corps has seen all of its tank battalions deactivated in favor of anti-ship missile units. It is a dangerous indicator of America’s ultimately irrational desire to prevent China’s rise.
