• The spokesman for the Russian Presidency, Dmitri Peskov, pointed out this Friday that the requirement to pay in rubles for Russian natural gas does not mean an immediate cessation of supplies.
• “The payment for the deliveries that are being carried out now should not be made today,” said Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, explaining that this deadline will come at the end of April or the beginning of May.
• The Kremlin ordered last week to accept payments for the supply of Russian natural gas to “unfriendly” countries only in rubles, considering that “it makes no sense to supply our products to the EU and the United States and charge in dollars and euros ” given the numerous sanctions imposed by the West on Russia, which affect its financial system and its foreign exchange reserves.
