The text of the memorandum of the Joint Chiefs of Staff of the US Armed Forces was declassified.
The document is dated June 2, when the Pentagon and personally the chief of the OKNS, General Mark Milli, were criticized for allegedly plans to send troops to Washington and take control of riot suppression.
The memorandum said, the armed forces support and honor the US Constitution, respect American citizens, regardless of race, the National Guard acts for the benefit of the people and is subordinate to state governors, etc. In a word – “the people and the army are one.”
Similar statements were issued by the Navy, the Bureau of the National Guard, and several other federal agencies.
As 06/05/2020, 32,400 National Guard troops are deployed in 32 states to provide security amid protests.
