The French military opened fire on a bus in Mali, killing two civilians and wounding three others.
A detachment of the French Armed Forces operating in an African country as part of Operation Barkhan was in control at one of the checkpoints when a bus approached it.
The driver did not react to the military’s demand to stop. The soldiers opened fire on the wheels, but (according to AFP) as a result of accidental hits, local residents were killed and injured.
The incident will only reinforce anti-French sentiment, which has escalated after the recent military coup.
