The Minister of Defense of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela assured
it military institution officials will be deployed in 14,200 voting centers in the country
He also stressed the participation of the FANB is stipulated by the Electoral Processes Law, so, he said, it will do everything possible to improve and give more guarantees to Venezuelans.
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces is not here to be an obstacle to the process for anyone. It is here because the Electoral Processes Law clearly establishes it ”, he stated.
“The Fanb doesn’t authorize opening of polling stations or order the closing of any voting center. Nor are we to hinder the process. We have our functions very well defined in the Electoral Processes Law, which are restricted to security tasks”, emphasized the high military officer.
And he reiterated: “The National Armed Forces is responsible for the physical security of the voters and the people of Venezuela. It will guarantee social and citizen security and peace during the electoral process. It will also be guaranteeing our territorial sovereignty at the borders, in maritime spaces and in our sovereign airspace ”.
Finally, Padrino López pointed out that the FANB is attached to civility and not to force. “We are not attached to repression or mistreatment or discrimination or militarism. What the FANB will do is a civic act that joins the nation that wants to exercise its right to vote ”, he concluded.
