The Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB) of Venezuela expressed its support for the National Assembly (unicameral parliament), which was installed on January 5th with a large pro-government majority, and repudiated the “intention to usurp powers.”
“We ratify the irreducible commitment to defend the homeland and its democratic institutions, which is why we categorically reject the absurd intention to self-proclaim and usurp Powers of the State, which are only accessed through the mechanisms clearly established in the Constitution and laws of the Republic, “said the FANB through a statement.
“In Venezuela, sovereignty is exercised through popular vote. The Homeland grows. While the lying opposition lobbyists in the USA and Europe, extremists self-exiled for their crimes of treason against Venezuela are legally perished, here we sing Victoria! Long live Venezuela!” Admiral and Chief Remigio Ceballos.
This reaction occurs after the United States and some Latin American countries expressed their rejection of the installation of new deputies for the 2021-2025 period, and assured that they will continue to recognize the legislators elected in 2015, despite the fact that their term Constitutional law ended this Tuesday, based on the Constitution.
On December 6, the election of the now deputies was held, amid calls from a group of countries to suspend the process because they considered that it did not offer guarantees of transparency and equal conditions.
However, the elections were carried out and the nations that do not know President Nicolás Maduro, and instead support the opposition leader Juan Guaidó, self-proclaimed interim president in 2019, refuse to recognize the new Parliament.
In this regard, the Venezuelan armed forces stressed that it will “without hesitation” respect the decisions of the population expressed through the vote.
In addition, the military body expressed its satisfaction with the installation of 277 deputies on Tuesday, of which 256 belong to the coalition of organizations that support Maduro.
“The Bolivarian National Armed Forces expresses its satisfaction, for the solemn installation, today, January 5th of the currents, of the National Assembly elected on December 6, 2020 by popular vote, for the period 2021 – 2026,” it was indicated in the text.
The Venezuelan legislative body was elected on December 6, amid a boycott by a sector of the opposition that called for abstention.
For his part, the president of that country, Nicolás Maduro, has repudiated all the accusations against the electoral body, and has assured that they are attempts to destabilize his management.
