Sarbakaf Mohmand, a Tehreek-e-Taliban-e-Pakistan (TTP) commander, claimed responsibility for Monday’s attack on a mosque in Peshawar. The group’s main spokesman was not immediately available for comment.
As it became known, in one of the city’s mosques, a TTP militant blew himself up. As a result of the explosion, at the moment 61 dead and more than 150 injured are known, among the victims there are policemen; next to the mosque is a police station.
TTP officials said the attack was in retaliation for Pakistani Taliban (TTP) leader Umar Khalid Khorasani, who was killed last year. This mosque was probably chosen because of its proximity to the police stations.
