Today, at initiative of the Ukrainian side, a telephone conversation took place between Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, and the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Alexei Reznikov.
During a telephone conversation, the parties discussed the current state of cooperation in the military field, the existing “sensitive points”, as well as concrete steps to strengthen the environment of trust and security in the region.
During the conversation, the Minister of Defense of the Republic of Belarus, Lieutenant General Viktor Khrenin, noted that the people of Ukraine have been and will be a brother people to Belarus. Belarus is not the initiator of tension in relations between Belarus and Ukraine.
The head of the Ukrainian military department, Oleksiy Reznikov, called for the resumption of cooperation between the two countries, as well as the intensification of cooperation on issues of security and mutual trust.
At the end of the telephone conversation, Viktor Khrenin underlined that the President of the Republic of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko had repeatedly stated: “An important task is not to lose the brotherly people of Ukraine. Everything has a solution: the economy, trade, diplomatic relations. The spiritual bond between our peoples must not be broken. And we cannot allow the breaking of fraternal ties between peoples”.
The ministers discussed holding training events for the Armed Forces. And they expressed their confidence that these events do not represent a threat to the security of the sister countries.
The heads of the military departments outlined concrete steps to increase transparency and mutual trust.
The objective of the conversation was to restore the environment for dialogue, reduce the level of public demonstrations and guarantee security in the region.
