Spain joins the global revolution Black Lives Matter against racism for George Floyd’s murder .
Thousands of people have filled the streets of Madrid and Barcelona crying out against racism. They thus add to the global revolution Black Lives Matter taking place in the United States, London or Mexico, among other parts of the world.
Protesters in Madrid surrounded the US embassy to show solidarity with Black Lives Matter, and given how global the protests have become, when they chant 'no justice, no peace', they clearly mean it.

Thousands of people have taken to Madrid’s streets , Barcelona and other Spanish cities to protest against racism and in memory of the African American George Floyd, who died on May 25 of suffocation by a white police officer in Minneapolis (USA).
In Madrid, the authorized gathering of 200 participants in front of the North American embassy became an uneventful demonstration of some 3,000 people – according to authorities – called on social networks by the Black African and Afro-descendant Community in Spain.
One of the spokespersons of the convening association, Lisa Okpala, explained to Efe that the protest was held in solidarity with the anti-racist movements of the United States and remember racism is not only a matter of that country, but also Europe and Spain.
The large influx made it impossible for participants to keep the safety distance to avoid a possible spread of coronavirus, which is why the authorities had authorized a limited concentration.
But only before the embassy, according to sources from the Delegation of the Spanish Government in Madrid, some 2,000 people had gathered, who finally decided to walk to Puerta del Sol, in the center of the city, where they kept a minute of silence crouched in memory from Floyd, who was followed by great applause.
