One soldier killed and 4 more wounded, balance of attack by the ELN National Liberation Army
On morning of this Saturday, April 24, 2021, the Colombian National Army, through a statement confirmed that a military unit in Arauca was attacked.
The attack, with rifle bursts, claimed the life of Deputy First Sergeant Robinson Rodríguez Murillo, and left four more NCOs wounded.
“Troops that carried out military operations to protect the civilian population in the municipality of Arauquita, department of Arauca, were victims of a cowardly terrorist action, apparently by members of the organized armed group ELN,” Army statement.
They point out that the attack took place in the sector known as Brisas de Caranal. Medical aid was immediately provided to the wounded personnel, who were transferred to the Arauquita hospital.
The wounded uniformed men were identified as professional soldiers: Mauricio Piamba Piamba, Fernando Otero Jiménez, Yeison Osorio Hoyos and Jhonny Palacios Ríos.
“The military unit informed the competent judicial authorities of what happened,” highlights the military institution.
