The Government of Gustavo Petro and the dissidents known as the Central General Staff of the FARC EP (EMC) signed a bilateral ceasefire protocol on February 13. That document contains the rules that will govern the parties during the suspension of offensive actions that began on January 1 and would go until June 30 of this year. The signing of this document activated an operation to mobilize 20 guerrilla commanders to a place in the country where a summit of the leadership of this armed group will be held.
The text, released by Colombia +20, was signed by the High Commissioner for Peace, Danilo Rueda, and Andrey Avendaño, by the Farc Ep. This document defines the bilateral ceasefire as the suspension of offensive actions between the parties for a determined time. And it creates an Oversight, Monitoring and Verification Mechanism (MVMV) that will issue technical concepts and prepare recommendations to prevent and address possible incidents or non-compliance.
