On the morning of March 9, 2023, the Afghan governor of the Balkh region was killed in a suicide attack on his office. The governor was known for his fight against Daesh.
Sources linked to the Taliban released video footage from security cameras at the Balkh provincial government building.

The late governor, Mullah Daoud Muzamal, is the highest-ranking victim of the terrorists since the Taliban came to power, previously governor of Nangarhar province and deputy interior minister. In a statement, the al-Azaim media center noted that the Islamists can easily attack the Taliban in the most protected areas of the country, with this attack demonstrating in practice the freedom of their actions.
Local media pointed out that the Taliban used to attack the government structures of the previous regime in this way, and now they themselves suffer the same attacks and don’t know how to fix it.

So, it turns out that the suicide bomber, named Abdullah Khorasani, lived near the governor’s administration building and walked towards it, after which he waited for Mullah Daoud Muzamal in the corridor. Having found the target, the suicide bomber detonated a mine belt, according to local sources, 15 security officers were killed along with the officer.
