The Cauca Regional Indigenous Council, CRIC, denounced the murder of Sandra Liliana Peña Chocué, indigenous governor of La Laguna Siberia, in Caldono.
According to report, the leader was forced by four armed men to leave her home. The hit men shot her without saying a word and fled .
“The governor had expressed days before, in her position as authority, the rejection of crops for illicit use that was increasing in her territory,” the CRIC revealed.
The council rejected “the violent acts that attack the structures of self-government and denounce the lack of guarantees for life and peace of the Government of Iván Duque, through its incompetence to govern, generates in the indigenous territories of the country.”
