Russian military arrives in Pakistan for Druzhba-2020 exercise
A spetsnaz company from the 49th Combined Arms Army of the Southern Military District arrived in Pakistan to participate in the fifth annual Russian-Pakistani exercise “Friendship-2020”.
This was announced on Thursday, November 5, 2020 by the press service of the Southern Military District.
“The military personnel of the Southern Military District arrived in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan to participate in the joint Russian-Pakistani military exercise” Friendship-2020 “by the Il-76 military transport aircraft,” the press service said.
The Russian-Pakistani exercises “Friendship-2020” will be held on the territory of the Pakistani Special Operations Forces training ground near the Tarbela settlement, 50 kilometers north-west of Islamabad, from 5 to 21 November 2020.
The annual joint Russian-Pakistani military exercises “Friendship” have been held since 2016. Soldiers of motorized rifle units and special-purpose units of the Southern Military District, stationed in Karachay-Cherkessia and Stavropol Territory, take part in them from the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation. The current exercises are already the third joint military exercises to be held on the territory of Pakistan, two more were held on the territory of Russia in the Southern Military District: at the training grounds of the Krasnodar Territory and in the mountains of Karachay-Cherkessia.
The joint exercise aimed at strengthening and developing military cooperation between the two countries is being conducted in accordance with the plan for international military cooperation.
