The F-22 Raptor fighters, along the Stratotanker KC-135 tanker and the E-3 control and early warning aircraft, escorted a group of Russian aircraft into the Alaska air defense identification zone. It is reported by NORAD.
The first group of aircraft consisted of two strategic Tu-95MS bombers, Su-35S fighters, and the A-50U AWACS aircraft 20 nautical miles off the coast of Alaska. The second group: two Tu-95MS and one A-50U 32 nautical miles from the coast.
According to the Russian Defense Ministry, four Tu-95MS long-range aviation strategic aircraft of the Russian aerospace forces conducted an 11-hour flight over the neutral waters of the Chukchi, Bering and Okhotsk seas, and the northern part of the Pacific Ocean.
