
“We are facing a highly trained armed group that has a terrorist ideology,” said third sergeant Jairo Pérez in an interview with the Telesur journalist, Madeleine García, Pérez is one of the eight military personnel rescued on 31 May, 2021 by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB).
Sergeant Pérez and his team were captured during FANB operations to contain criminal organizations trying to take control of Apure state.
