In DR Congo, more than sixty people were victims of a bloodbath organized by militants on the night of February 1-2, 2022. Terrorists armed with machetes arrived in the Jugu district of Ituri province and attacked a camp of people displaced. The exact number of deaths is unknown, because not all the bodies have been found yet. About fifty people were injured.
The Armed Forces of the Democratic Republic of the Congo launched a special operation in the district; The massacre is suspected to have been carried out by CODECO militants, who carried out a similar attack in November 2021. Twelve people then died at their hands.
It should be noted that in May 2020, IS militants staged a massacre in Ituri province, which they themselves admitted to propaganda. However, at that time the authorities considered that the same CODECO militants were behind the attack.
