Majid Taheri, an Iranian doctor imprisoned in the United States 16 months ago, returned to Tehran on Monday morning.
He was accused in the United States of violating the sanctions regime. Taheri traded for Michael White, a US citizen released from an Iranian prison last week.
Taheri was greeted at Tehran Imam Khomeini International Airport by Deputy Foreign Minister Hosein Jaberi Ansari, says Isna, who publishes a photograph of the two men speaking to journalists.
The scientist, who was detained in the United States for 16 months, was released on Thursday when Iran released US Navy veteran Michael White.
