The King attends the Exercise of the Experimental Brigade 35

Don Felipe attended one of the Exercises that the “king Alfonso XIII” II Brigade of the Legion, designated as the Experimental Brigade (BRIEX), within the Force 2035 project of the Army, which was developed in the Field of Maneuvers and Shooting “ Álvarez de Sotomayor ”, in Viator (Almería).
During the visit, His Majesty King checked the advances in key programs for the future Earth Force such as the 8×8 Dragon Wheeled Combat Vehicle (VCR). Don Felipe already visited the “Álvarez de Sotomayor” Base in September of last year, ten years after his last visit then as Prince of Asturias, to preside over the institutional act of commemoration of the founding centenary of the Legion. The King accepted the Honorary Presidency of the Legion Centennial Commission in August 2019, as it is the main anniversary of the Armed Forces in 2020.

As described on its official website. In the coming years, the Army will have to act in unpredictable, dynamic, unstable and increasingly complex environments. This, together with the rapid technological advances, the possibility of access to technologies for civil and military use, by potential adversaries and threats, as well as the hyperconnectivity, great influence and omnipresence of the media and social networks, forces a evolution in the concept of its brigades – a reference combat unit of the ground operational forces. In this sense, the future Brigades will be endowed with the necessary capabilities as a Comprehensive Combat System, that is, all of them will be acquired globally.
Brigade 2035 is the model that is being designed for the adaptation of the Spanish Army to the operational environment that is expected on the horizon of that year.
