Kim Jong-un orders to increase nuclear warheads, develop new intercontinental ballistic missile and launch military satellite
According to reports from the KCNA news agency, Kim Jong-un also announced the creation of new 600mm caliber multiple launch rocket systems.
North Korean leader Kim Jong-un orders an “exponential” expansion of the country’s nuclear arsenal, including counter-strike missiles.
As reported this Sunday by the Korean Central News Agency (KCNA), at a plenary meeting of the ruling Workers’ Party, Kim has described as important and necessary “the mass production of tactical nuclear weapons”, as well as, “exponentially increase the number of nuclear warheads.”
He has also advocated developing a new intercontinental ballistic missile to enable a rapid nuclear counterattack. In this context, he has added that everything possible should be done to produce weapons with the aim of “frightening” Washington and Seoul.
Pyongyang repudiates “bad decision” by the US and Seoul to extend exercises
That, in his opinion, is essential at a time when, “without a doubt”, South Korea has become an obvious enemy, which together with the US seeks to “isolate and strangle” Pyongyang.
“The situation today demands that our country redouble its efforts to overwhelmingly strengthen our military power in order to safeguard our sovereignty, security, and basic national interest in dealing with the dangerous movements of the United States military and other hostile forces attacking us.” has emphasized.
The news comes to light a few hours after the second launch of a short-range missile was reported into the Sea of Japan (East Sea), in less than 24 hours, and followed by another firing of three short-range ballistic missiles scope launched a day earlier in the same direction.
US and South Korean authorities have been warning for months that North Korea may be preparing for a nuclear test, with satellite images showing activity at its underground nuclear test site.
Washington and Seoul are responding to these activities with missile launches and exercises on the Korean peninsula, which has led to further escalation in the region.
