President Iván Duque announced this Sunday that with ten lines of action the modernization of the Ministry of Defense and the comprehensive transformation of the National Police will be deepened, in which the human rights policy and the provision of service to the citizen will be strengthened.
“Strengthen the orientation and public and citizen security as specific lines of action for the National Police, with a special focus on the police that the citizen expects and on providing the best conditions to the members of the institution,” said President Duque.
“We will strengthen the education and training of their men and women. We will implement professional standards on issues such as the use of force, human rights, citizen service and police procedures, ”said Duque.
The head of state indicated that the Ministry of Defense will become the Ministry of National Defense and Citizen Security. Likewise, the Vice Ministry of Defense Policies and Citizen Security and the Education Directorate of the National Police will be created.
On July 20, a bill will be filed before the Congress of the Republic to create a new police disciplinary statute with which the General Inspection will be restructured and will create a new system to receive complaints and reports that modernizes the current one that has something more of 15 years of existence, affirmed the president.
