“Imawarí” was the name selected by users of Canaima GNU / Linux version number 7 of the Venezuelan open source operating system.
Imawarí is a cave name located in Canaima National Park. The word means in Pemon language “where the gods of the mountain live”.
Canaima operating system was officially launched in 2007. Its most recent version, number 6, was launched in April 2018 and is called “Kavac”.
The software is used in computers of the Canaima Educational program as well as in most of the work stations of the National Public Administration in Venezuela.
