The Attorney General indicated that the summons comes after investigations initiated last week regarding an attempted coup and assassination unveiled after the seizure in Colombia of an arsenal of war weapons that were intended to enter Venezuelan territory to be used. in the referred terrorist acts.
He noted that for this ongoing investigation, two national prosecutors were appointed to process the elements found in the police records. “On this case, the arrest warrants against Clíver Alcalá Cordones and Antonio José Sequea Torres, who served as the main leaders of a group, which according to Clíver Alcalá himself, were made up of 90 mercenaries,” he added.
He explained that Alcalá and Sequea have been charged with the crimes of treason against the country, illicit trafficking in weapons of war, terrorism and attempted assassination and association.
Inaction of Colombian justice
He criticized the inaction of the Colombian authorities before the public confession made by Alcalá Cordones on a radio station in that neighboring country, of a crime that was planned and prepared in that territory to be perpetrated in Venezuela. He added that the subject recorded a video from his home and that he was even allowed to leave that nation bound for the United States without any problem.
“In the face of all this, Colombian justice, to the shame of all Colombians, leaves the judicial authorities in that country to act in a totally embarrassing situation, since a foreigner confesses a crime of arms trafficking, of preparing mercenary groups publicly and no Colombian authority made the decision to stop them, “he stressed.
