This Friday -February 11, 2022, from the Simón Bolívar Press Room in Miraflores, the Bolivarian National Armed Forces offered a balance of the Bolivarian Shield Operation 2022 “Vuelvan Caras”, updating the progress of scrutiny and tracking through the Venezuelan plains (llanos), managing to dismantle groups Colombian armed groups dedicated to extortion, drug trafficking and other cross-border crimes, with the aim of creating and strengthening a criminal industry.

The activity was chaired by General in Chief Vladimir Padrino López, Sectoral Vice President of Political Sovereignty, Security and Peace and Minister of Popular Power for Defense, accompanied by General in Chief Domingo Hernández Lárez, Commander of the Strategic Operational Command of the National Bolivarian Armed Forces of Venezuela (CEOFANB) and MG Juan Carlos Du Boulay Second Commander and CEOFANB Chief of Staff.

During the statements, the head of the military portfolio, Padrino López, stated: “We have been relentless in the Operation, which has been a SUCCESS. I congratulate the CEOFANB for such an impeccable Operation in the State of Apure!, which has given us great results… We have seized vehicles, drugs, explosive devices, weapons, ammunition, aircraft, communications equipment and other objects used for that criminal industry, which has been armed from one day to the next on that border.”

Likewise, the head of the military component government pointed out: “We are determined to raise the quality of life of our people in Apure, we are not leaving from there. I reiterate to the TANCOLs that they DO NOT have space in Venezuela… Apure IS OURS! It belongs to the Venezuelans and we are going to defend it with arms and love until the end”.
During the operations, they dismantled 16 “improvised facilities, used for logistical purposes, for the preparation of electrical devices, to keep people kidnapped there, for various purposes and for drug processing.”
In addition, it indicated that during the deployment they seized 1,200 kilos of cocaine and 800 kilos of marijuana and confiscated weapons of different calibers, 3,600 ammunition of various types, three aircraft, communication equipment and other types of vehicles and utensils for the manufacture of explosives and preparation of drugs.
He highlighted that nine terrorists were killed by the security forces of the Venezuelan State, while 56 people have been arrested, who are under orders .
“A large deployment in Apure has been reinforced in 25,000 square kilometers to expel the Tancol (Colombian Drug Trafficking Armed Terrorists) from this territory where they intend to keep the drug trafficking route in that region from Arauca,” said Padrino López, explaining that is the reason why all the operations have focused on Apure, because these groups “intend to keep that route.”
He reported that a total of eight people from the civilian population of Apure state have died due to the actions of Tancol groups. “Unfortunately, last week we received the news of eight deaths from the town, from civilian population, entering their homes, traveling on motorcycles, who have been victims of these criminal acts by these terrorists,” Padrino said.
The Defense Minister indicated that FANB officials have also been deployed in the states of Amazonas, Sucre, Zulia, Bolívar and Apure “to contain and evict all those criminals who permeate through the border into Venezuelan territory.”
Colombianize Venezuela
During the press conference, Padrino López warned that these gangs, trained from Colombia, intend to transfer the armed conflict to national territory.
“We have seen how this conflict in Colombia intends to project itself in different ways in national life. It is intended to Colombianize, by different means, such as that of paramilitarism in Venezuela, which is a victim of the unleashed violence,” said Padrino, noting that the actions respond to the instruction of President Nicolás Maduro to liberate the sectors where they could be from the Tancols. operating these criminal groups.
