ELN in Colombia enacts armed strike from tomorrow

The National Liberation Army (ELN) greets the Colombian people and reports:
1. We decree armed strike in the national territory for 72 hours, starts on February 14 at 6 am. and ends on February 17 at 6 am. from 2020.
2. The ELN acts with responsibility, and therefore we inform you in advance so that the population remains in their homes and workplaces such as farms, workshops or other work space, but that do not have to do with land, river and air transportation.
3. During the armed strike, the right to transport patients who require hospital treatment, as well as movement of relatives to attend funeral matters, will be respected.
4. Our units are trained and oriented to carry out a behavior that respects the rights of people and communities. The saboteurs will be treated according to their behavior.
5. We call on population not to be fooled and intimidated by the Government and its Armed Forces, be they of the Army or the Police, with caravans of protection with the military; because civilian who goes in a caravan with soldiers and is in the middle of the combat in control sites or ambushes of the ELN against the military, it is his responsibility, because it is being used to sabotage the strike.
The owners cargo and passenger vehicles that move during these days should keep in mind that neither the Government nor the owners of the cargo will answer for the loss of their vehicle or boat.
6. Complying with this order not to move through transport routes during 72 hours of armed strike is the most convenient for the population, being cautious and staying in their homes will avoid regretting consequences.
We trust that February 17 at 6 am. transport will resume and population will return to their normal activities and work.
