Thousands of people into central Madrid on Saturday (Jan 21) to protest against the “Socialist” government.
Protesters massed in the Plaza de Cibeles in front of City Hall, waved Spanish flags, called on Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez to resign and shouted out “traitor”.
More than 100 groups – including the conservative opposition Popular Party, centre-right Ciudadanos and the far-right Vox – called the rally under the slogan “For Spain, for democracy and the constitution”.
One of the clamors of the protesters among many, is the ceased a controversial law where 244 sexual offenders have already benefited from the ‘only yes means yes‘ law.
The update this Friday with the new cases from Madrid, the Valencian Community, the Canary Islands and Aragon leaves the provisional figure at 244 reductions in sentences.
According to Europa Press, of those 244 cases, 19 have freed rapist.
The Minister of Justice, Pilar Llop, acknowledged this Friday that “the law has not produced the desired effects.”
