Curacao lost 250 tons of ‘humanitarian aid’ destined for Venezuela. The products arrived in February 2019.The deposit manager threw everything in the past week because the bill was not paid and animals started eating the food.
None of the aid supplies were delivered to the thousands of Venezuelans who remain on the Caribbean island in a situation of high vulnerability and poverty. Meanwhile, authorities continue to detain and deport refugees.
The aid that was lost was donated by citizens in the US. and Puerto Rico.
USAID products were shipped through Panama shortly after February 2019, when it became clear that the border between Curaçao and Venezuela remained closed.
