China permanent representation to United Nations Organization (UN) in Geneva, Chen Xu, accused the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, of “inappropriate” interference in China’s internal affairs.
This claim occurs after Bachelet’s pronouncements in an article in favor of launching independent investigation into reports of excessive use of force by police against protesters in Hong Kong, according to the statement released by the Mission, Telesur reports on its web portal.
Chinese delegation in Geneva showed its opposition to the document written by Bachelet, as it includes “inappropriate comments on Hong Kong situation Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China and interferes with China’s internal affairs and violates the purposes and principles of the Charter of the United Nations ”.
According to the Chinese statement, this reports puts pressure on Hong Kong Government and Police and “will only encourage troublemakers to carry out more severe radical violence.” “In the face of radical violent crimes, the Hong Kong Police have done their duty and exercised maximum professional moderation during public order assurance ,” the text adds.
The Chinese communiqué also points out Asian country Government “is determined to safeguard national sovereignty, security and development interests, as well as to apply ‘one country principle , two systems’ and oppose all foreign interference in Hong Kong affairs. ”
“We urge the High Commissioner and her Office to strictly comply with the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, see the true colors of violent troublemakers in Hong Kong, stop making irresponsible comments and refrain from ingesting by any means in the internal affairs of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the People’s Republic of China, ”concludes the Chinese Mission.
