British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace approved the production of three Protector RG Mk1 reconnaissance and attack UAVs for the RAF and ground control stations for them as part of the program to replace the American MQ-9 Reaper.
The total value of the contract is $ 81.5 million (€ 65 million).
New UAVs will take up combat duty until 2024 and will be deployed at the Wadington air base in Lincolnshire.
The drones are planned to be equipped with the latest British and guided missile launchers MBDA Brimstone and US-made Paveway IV adjustable bombs.
