At least one dead and some 24 wounded left several attacks perpetrated against Colombia public force in various regions of Colombia during Wednesday night and early Thursday morning, authorities reported.
The biggest attack occurred this morning against military base 27, of the Infantry Battalion No. 14 Captain Antonio Ricaurte, which is located in the municipality of Aguachica, in the department of Cesar (north), the Army detailed in a statement.
There, four detonations were heard, apparently as a result of grenade attacks, which left two soldiers with serious injuries who were transferred to the Aguachica Hospital and 18 more with minor injuries, who were treated within the same military unit.
On the other hand, the Command of the Tenth Army Brigade indicated that the Chiriguaná military base, also in Cesar, was attacked with explosive devices, where soldier Faider Martínez Gómez died.
Another uniformed officer was also injured with shrapnel, and was taken to a medical center in Chiriguaná where he is being treated.
The guerrillas of the National Liberation Army (ELN) today claimed responsibility for the attacks and affirmed that they will continue “combating the militarization of Catatumbo and the enemy military bases that house gringo troops to repress the border population.”
