An ammunition depot exploded in the area of the Jordanian city of Zarqa. There is no information yet about the victims and the prerequisites for the explosion.
A strong detonation took place early this Friday in the Al Ghawabi area, near the city of Zarqa, in northern Jordan.
According to the Jordanian Media Minister, Amjad Adaileh, the explosion occurred in a mortar bomb depot of the Army of the Arab country. “The initial investigation indicates that the detonation was caused by a short circuit in warehouses located in an isolated and uninhabited area and which are subject to direct surveillance by cameras,” the minister said, according to the Al Rai news agency.
“According to the General Command, so far no injuries have been reported as a result of the explosion,” he added.
Previously a spokesman for the local police quoted by Al Arabiya stated that two people were killed and three were injured in the incident. He explained that the injured were hospitalized.
