
Plane crashed at Almaty airport
An An-26 military transport plane crashed in Alma-Ata near the airport on March 13th, at approximately 5:20 p.m. (local time). Local doctors report that two survivors were sent to intensive care.
According to preliminary data from the Kazakh Ministry of Emergency Situations, there were six people on board and four are presumed to have died.
The accident occurred at the end of the runway. Communication with the An-26 aircraft en route Nur-Sultan – Alma-Ata was lost during the approach to landing. The airport emergency services were immediately alerted. The fire at the accident site was extinguished.
The President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, expressed his condolences to the families and friends of the dead soldiers and also instructed the responsible services to find out the reasons for the An-26 accident.
