In an audiovisual material released by Foreign Minister Jorge Arreaza on Twitter, the six detainees are seen to be in good health, as well as the right to family assistance, sports and recreation activities, amid prevention measures against the Covid- 19.
José Pereira, to represent the detainees, acknowledges “that in the midst of the limitations they have”, typical of the police receipt before investigation that follows them, he stated, “our conditions here have been good (…), in treatment and respect to human rights ”, he asserted.
Pereira explained that food has been respected, as well as access to medicines, as well as communication with family members, “we want to attest to it,” emphasized the detainee.
The former Citgo executives were arrested for having carried out a multi-million dollar business to refinance Citgo’s debt under conditions unfavorable to the country and that it compromised the company by placing it as collateral.
